(AdventHealth University, 2024) Simoyi, Mazvita E.
The COVID-19 pandemic catapulted the use of telemedicine to a daily occurrence and increased the interest in telesurgery. Telesurgery is the act of providing surgical services over a distance where the surgeon is remote from the patient. This project discusses the history of robotic surgery, the benefits of telesurgery, along with concerns involving telementoring, teleproctoring, learning curve, signal latency, ethical considerations, limitations and future directions.
